Proposals dealing with issues currently confronting the U.S. commercial broadcast industry are required. The intent of this program is to stimulate interest in broadcast research, especially research on economic, social, or policy issues of importance to the broadcast industry.

Warnicke Scholarship Race

Award: $5,000

Applicant must have a current NBL license and have participated in BMX racing events sanctioned by the NBL for at least one year. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from a NBL official or state commissioner. Applicant should include a recent photo and personal letter telling the selection committee about his/her high school activities, hobbies, and reasons for wanting to continue his/her education. Interview required.

Kildee Graduate Scholarships

Applicant must have participated in the National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest. The top 25 individuals in one of the past three National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest may apply. Two letters of recommendation (including a letter from the department chair and a faculty member who is familiar with the applicant's activities and academic achievements) and an official transcript showing all courses required.

Dairy Student Recognition Award

Award: $2,000

Applicant must be a graduating senior who is planning to pursue a career related to dairy (production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, veterinary medicine, and environmental science) who has demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, and an interest in dairy cattle. Letter of recommendation from department chair or faculty member and official transcript are required to be submitted. Two applicants per college or university are accepted for this contest in any given year.

Applicant must be a member of Omega Psi Phi, have a minimum 2.7 GPA, and exemplify the cardinal principles of manhood, scholarship, and perseverance. Upon selection, recipient will provide the family of Rev. Dr. Herman S. Dreer with a biographical sketch which includes his future life goals to ensure compatibility with the ideals in which Rev. Dr. Dreer believed and lived. Each of the 11 District Representatives may nominate one candidate from his respective district for consideration to the National Scholarship Committee.

Applicant must be knowledgeable in the history of twentieth-century to contemporary American art/craft and must submit research proposal. Selection is based upon applicant's academic standing, scholarly qualifications, experience, and the quality of the research project or study proposed and its suitability to Smithsonian collections, facilities, and programs. Preference is given to proposals concentrating on post-1930 craft developments or their historical antecedents.
