Applicant is selected based on their academic credentials, language skills, need for in-country resources, quality of research proposal, letters of recommendation, and financial need forms. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident demonstrating financial need. Application form, research proposal in English and in the host country language, and letters of recommendation are required to be submitted. Selection is based upon the research proposal, need for in-country resources, letters of recommendation, and language proficiency. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with advanced knowledge of the host country's language. Research proposal of 1,000 words, an agreement and a release form, a medical evaluation, two letters of recommendation, a curriculum vitae in both English and the language of the host country, and a financial need statement are required to be submitted. Award is for individual research opportunities in the Baltics, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, or Slovakia.

Scholarship for High School Seniors and Graduates

Applicant must be interviewed by an Air Force officer before the application will be presented to a selection board. Applicant must be a high school student or graduate, and meet general physical requirements. Students must be 17 years old by October 31 and under 27 by June 30 in the year of college graduation and Air Force commission, and never have enrolled in college full time.

Applicant must be an earnest Christian Science student, be a member of the Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston; or one of its branch churches. American Fellowship Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grant

Applicant must be a woman and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Award is for college or university faculty or independent researchers to prepare a completed publication. Selection is based upon scholarly experience, teaching experience, and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in the community, profession, or field of research. This award is for postdoctoral research. Recipient must have time available for eight weeks of research.
