The James Alan Cox Scholarship for Student Photojournalists

Applicant must be a high school (sophomore or older with one semester remaining), college, or graduate school student. High school applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of one photography or related art class; college students must be enrolled in photography or journalism; graduate students must be enrolled in a journalism/photojournalism class. Scholar Athlete Program
Award: $1,100
Applicant must be a high school student athlete who demonstrates excellence both on and off the field and in the classroom. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be nominated by a teacher, coach, faculty member, parent, or peer. From January to March, two high school seniors in the greater Seattle area will be chosen weekly as the Scholar Athlete of the Week and given a $100 scholarship to acknowledge their academic and athletic commitment. Two athletes will receive the $1,100 grand prize.

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who will receive a diploma from an accredited high school, located within the state where they will apply. Applicant must have a father, mother, or natural guardian who meets the following qualifications: is a full-time active employee in the state where the applicant applies, is a full-time paid member of the police or sheriff's department or fire department, or is a full-time public safety officer. Selection is abased upon academic achievement, national test scores, extracurricular participation, and an essay.
