Applicants must be Maine residents who are graduating high school seniors. They must have plans to enroll in an ABETEAC-accredited degree program in engineering and to pursue a career in engineering. Applicants have to have applied to at least one school that offers engineering degrees. These are the minimum acceptable standardized test scores: SAT Math 600, SAT Writing 500, SAT Critical Reading 500, ACT Math 29, ACT English 25, PAA Quantitative 750 and PAA Verbal 640. Selection is based on standardized test scores, GPA, personal essay, recommendations, extracurricular activities and work experience.

The American Bar Association (ABA) sponsors a variety of essay and writing competitions for ABA student members. Applicants must write an article about antitrust and have it published in an ABA-accredited school's law review or journal. Law students currently enrolled or graduating can write eligible articles of general interest to the antitrust law community, such as Civil and Criminal Antitrust Law, Competition Policy, Consumer Protection and International Competition Law.
