Applicants must be undergraduate industrial engineering students who have been formally nominated for the award by their industrial engineering department heads. They must be full-time students who are active IIE members in good standing and must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher on a four-point scale. Selection is based on academic achievement, integrity, financial need and potential contribution to the industrial engineering field.

The master's grant is $5,000, and the doctoral grant is $7,000. The award is based on academics and leadership.

Applicants must be high school seniors or otherwise eligible for graduation in the school year of application or current college students. They must plan to enroll in college full-time the following academic year. Applicants must be residents of the United States, including APO/FPO addresses but excluding Puerto Rico. Employees of Church Hill Classics and affiliated companies, their family members and individuals living in the same household are not eligible.
