Applicants must be new entering freshmen at Athens State University with outstanding potential as an art major in studio art, art education or computer graphics. Students must have a minimum 2.75 grade point average, meet all art program prerequisites and submit three original works.

Applicants must be incoming transfer students at Athens State University with a minimum grade point average of 3.5. Students must have been members of the All-Alabama Academic Team in the Alabama community college system within two years of their transfer.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarships

Applicants must be new students at Athens State University and a current member of Phi Theta Kappa. Students must have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher, a nomination letter from their Phi Theta Kappa sponsor at their community college and all associated documentation.

Student Activities Leadership Scholarships

Applicants must be new students at Athens State University with a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0. Students must demonstrate leadership and involvement in student organizations. Applicants must assist the Office of Student Activities with campus activities and enroll as a full-time student.

Athenian Scholarships
Award: $2,000
Applicants must be editor or assistant editor of the student newspaper at Athens State University. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, will have responsibility for the newspaper and must enroll as a full-time student.

Alumni Scholarships

Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and enroll at Athens State University for at least six hours. Students must address essay questions, demonstrate involvement in activities and list honors. Applicants must provide transcripts. Preference is given to students with family members who are Athens State alumni.

Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrate leadership qualities in clubs and organizations at Athens State University of from their transfer institution. Students must work 20 hours per semester for the Alumni Association.
