Poetry Out Loud Competition

Award: $20,000

Applicant must be currently enrolled in high school (grades 9-12, with an exception made for 8th-grade students participating in a 9th- through 12th-grade class). All poems must be selected from the Poetry Out Loud print or online anthology. At the state and national finals, students must have three poems prepared. One must be 25 lines or fewer, and one must be written before the 20th century. The same poem may be used to meet both criteria, and may be the student's third poem.

Winner's Circle Scholarship Program

Award: $1,500

Applicant must be a national AAEP student member who is active within their school's AAEP chapter and is currently attending a college of veterinary medicine. Applicant must apply during their third year for funding their fourth (final year) of veterinary curriculum. Essay, two letters of recommendation, official transcript, student aid report, and financial aid award letters are required to be submitted. All scholarships are $1,500 unless recipient qualifies for the Assets for Independence (AFI) federal grant program available through The Race For Education. If recipient meets federal guidelines and completes the grant program, the student receives the Winner's Circle $1,500 scholarship for the fall term then saves $500 as part of the grant program and receives an additional $4,000 in grant funding for their spring term.
