Summerfield G. Roberts Award

Award is to encourage literary effort and research about historical events and personalities during the days of the Republic of Texas, 1836-1846, and to stimulate interest in this period. Manuscript must be written or published during the calendar year for which the award is given and it may be either fiction or nonfiction, poetry, essay, play, short story, novel, or biography. Applicant must be a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society and be a pharmacy student in the final year of professional studies or a professional pharmacy degree program graduate entering a pharmaceutical sciences (including social/administrative sciences) Ph.D. program in an accredited U.S. school or college of pharmacy as a full-time student. Pharmacy students who have initiated graduate work through a dual Pharm.D./Ph.D. degree pathway are eligible if they will be pursuing full-time graduate study in the year the award is made. Applicants who have completed professional pharmacy degree programs must enroll in a pharmacy college graduate program for the Ph.D. not later than 16 months after completion of the professional degree.

Grants are intended for art students and artists in the early or developmental stage of their career. Applicants must work in a figurative or representational style of painting, drawing, sculpture, or printmaking and be committed to making the practice of their art a lifetime career. Grants are intended to assist applicants in the study or practice of their art, and the costs associated therewith, such as tuition, studio rental, model fees, travel, and living expenses.
