Applicant must be a permanent resident of North Carolina, enrolled as a full-time or part-time undergraduate student in a travel-and-tourism- or hospitality- related program of study at an accredited two-year, three-year, or four-year college or university in the U.S. or Canada, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants enrolled in a two-year college, will be entering the second year in the fall of the calendar year of application, and will have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of this semester or term. Applicants enrolled in a three-year school (Quebec) will be entering third year in the fall of the calendar year of application. Applicants enrolled in a four-year college or university will be entering junior or senior year in the fall of the calendar year of application, and will have completed a minimum of 60 or 90 credit hours respectively by the end of this semester or term. NTA Luray Caverns Graduate Research Scholarship

Applicants can be a citizen or permanent resident of citizen or permanent resident of any country and should be a full-time or part-time graduate student who can demonstrate a clear focus on and commitment to the tourism-subject area conducting research on a topic with a tourism focus at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States or Canada entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application, maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade point average. For a complete application, applicant needs to submit a passport as proof of citizenship, or Alien Registration Card as proof of permanent residency, resume, a letter of recommendation from your academic or research advisor, a Graduate Research Faculty Advisor Confirmation Form, an official transcript, a research proposal, and a reflection essay. RESEARCH PROPOSAL (five pages) which includes: the purpose or problem statement, hypothesis (if appropriate), objectives, scope, brief literature review, methodology, and applicability of results. The following are suggested research topics of interest (but are not limited to those on this list): overcoming consumers? objections to purchasing a cruise; how travel agents could market to adventure and special interest travel buyers; the future composition of the travel agency distribution channel and suggested strategies for retailers and suppliers; and consolidation as a survival strategy and possible productive partnerships with non-traditional organizations inside and outside the travel industry.
