Archibald Rutledge Scholarship Program

Award: $2,000

Applicants must be high school seniors in South Carolina public schools, have attended South Carolina public schools for the past two consecutive years and be U.S. citizens. There are five categories: creative writing, dance, music, theater and visual arts. For the creative writing category, a sonnet, lyric or narrative poem no longer than one page must be submitted. For the dance category, an original, short dance composition of three to ten minutes. For the music category, an original composition of three to ten minutes must be submitted. For the theater category, an original one-act play with a performing time of eight to fifteen minutes. For the visual arts category, an original visual composition must be submitted. Compositions are judged on creativity, originality and quality of expression and content.

A GPA of 2.5 or higher is required. Applicants must enroll in two consecutive semesters and have completed at least one grading term of a postsecondary program. High school students going into their freshman year must have 250 hours of restaurant work experience, rising sophomores must have 400 hours and those beyond the sophomore year must have 550 hours of experience.

Clauder Competition Prize

Colorado State Thespians Scholarships

Applicants must be high school seniors, have a minimum 2.75 GPA, plan to attend one of 30 participating universities, colleges or conservatories from across the nation and major in theatre. Students must perform an audition in acting, musical theatre or dance or prepare a portfolio of their expertise in technical theatre to present on the designated audition day in Denver, Colorado. Admission and additional scholarships may be offered by the colleges based on the audition.
