National Merit Scholarship
Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the proper year in high school (usually the junior year). Selection is based upon abilities, skills, accomplishment, and potential for success in rigorous college studies and beyond. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. The 16,000 high-scoring participants who are designated Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for awards. Please note that some awards can be college-specific.
Renewable if recipient maintains full-time enrollment at an accredited school and makes normal academic progress.
